Chase to Hyatt transfers after October 1, 2026: which cards still get 1:1

World of Hyatt has long been one of the most useful places to send Chase Ultimate Rewards points. From October 1, 2026, how many Hyatt points you get depends on which Chase card holds your points.
What changed
Chase now transfers Ultimate Rewards points to World of Hyatt at 4:3 from two cards: the Sapphire Preferred and the Ink Business Preferred. In Chase's words, "if you transfer 1,000 Ultimate Rewards points, you will get 750 World of Hyatt points."
| Card holding the points | Ultimate Rewards to Hyatt | 40,000 points become |
|---|---|---|
| Sapphire Reserve | 1:1 | 40,000 Hyatt points |
| Sapphire Reserve for Business | 1:1 | 40,000 Hyatt points |
| Sapphire Preferred | 4:3 | 30,000 Hyatt points |
| Ink Business Preferred | 4:3 | 30,000 Hyatt points |
Chase's own pages state the 4:3 rate for the Sapphire Preferred and the Ink Business Preferred. The 1:1 rate for the two Reserve cards comes from AwardWallet's reporting: "anyone with a Chase Sapphire Reserve or Sapphire Reserve for Business can continue transferring to World of Hyatt at a 1:1 ratio." Chase's card pages do not state the Reserve rate, so check the rate on Chase's transfer screen before you confirm.
When the new rate started
- Sapphire Preferred opened on or after June 15, 2026: 4:3 from the start.
- Sapphire Preferred opened before June 15, 2026: 1:1 through September 30, 2026, then 4:3. Chase: "If you opened your card account prior to June 15, 2026, your points will transfer to World of Hyatt at a rate of 1:1 through September 30, 2026."
- Ink Business Preferred: "Starting October 1, 2026, your Ultimate Rewards points will transfer to World of Hyatt at a rate of 4:3."
What the change costs
At 4:3 you get a quarter fewer Hyatt points for the same Ultimate Rewards. Chase moves points in blocks: "Your points can typically only be transferred in increments of 1,000." So every 1,000 points sent from a Sapphire Preferred becomes 750 Hyatt points.
For a night that costs 15,000 Hyatt points:
- From a Sapphire Reserve, you send 15,000 Ultimate Rewards points.
- From a Sapphire Preferred, you send 20,000, because 20,000 at 4:3 is 15,000.
Over a multi-year plan with dozens of Hyatt nights, that difference adds up to several nights.
Couples: move the points before you transfer
Chase lets you share points within a household. From Chase's transfer guide: "with an eligible Chase credit card, you may be able to transfer points to a spouse or somebody else in your household."
So if one of you holds a Sapphire Reserve and the other a Sapphire Preferred, the Preferred holder's points can be combined into the Reserve holder's account first, and sent to Hyatt from there at 1:1. Slow Travel Retirement's planner values a household's points this way: at the best rate any card in the household can get.
Which Chase cards can transfer at all
Chase's transfer partners guide says "Sapphire Reserve, Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred are the cards that offer Chase cardmembers the ability to transfer points to travel partners." If your points sit on another Chase card, they have to reach one of these accounts before they can go to Hyatt.
What it means for a retirement travel plan
If Hyatt is part of your travel goal, the transfer rate is now part of choosing between the two Sapphire cards, along with the welcome offer and the annual fee. In a household with one Reserve, every Ultimate Rewards point you both earn can still reach Hyatt at 1:1.
