Barry Boggs

SEO and travel rewards strategist · Founder of Slow Travel Retirement

Barry Boggs is a search engine optimization professional and the founder of Slow Travel Retirement. He works with data and Python, and built the site's household points planner to answer a question he had for his own family: which travel cards should each of us open, in what order, to pay for years of slow travel in retirement?

The planner and the guides follow the same rules he applies at work: start from the source, show your evidence, and date everything. Every guide quotes the bank's or program's own pages and lists when each was read. Rules that come from the points community rather than the bank are labelled as community-reported.

Barry uses the planner for his own household's applications. He opened a Chase Sapphire Reserve in the fall of 2026 as the anchor card for the household's Chase points, which is the strategy his guide to the Sapphire Reserve and Sapphire Preferred for couples describes.

Barry is not a financial adviser, and nothing on this site is financial advice. The guides explain how card rules, points and transfer partners work, so readers can make their own decisions.

Editorial standards

Every guide lists its sources with the date each was read. Card offers and rules change, so each page shows when it was last checked. Corrections are welcome: email hello@slowtravelretirement.com with a link to the source. How the site makes money is set out in our disclosure.
