Privacy policy

What we collect, why, who handles it, and how to have it removed. Written to be read, not skimmed past.

Last updated Oct 1, 2026

The short version

  • Reading the site: we ask for nothing. There are no forms, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking cookies on the public pages.
  • Using the planner: it is open by invitation only for now. It stores only what you enter to plan your household's travel, and never card numbers, Social Security numbers, credit scores or bank passwords.
  • We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

When you read the public site

The homepage, guides, blog and these policy pages do not ask you for any information and do not set cookies. Two services still see each visit, because that is how a web page reaches you:

  • Vercel, which hosts the site, receives each request and may keep standard server logs, such as your IP address, browser type and the page you asked for, under its own privacy policy.
  • Google Fonts supplies the site's typefaces. Your browser downloads them from Google, which receives your IP address and browser details under Google's privacy policy.

Articles link to bank, card and loyalty-program pages, and to other sites we cite. Some "Apply" buttons on our cards page are referral links, which tell the bank the visit came from our household. When you follow any link, that site's own privacy policy applies.

When you have a planner account

The planner is a private tool. Accounts are created by invitation; there is no public sign-up yet. If you have an account, we store:

  • Your account: your email address, an optional name, and your password, which is stored only as a one-way hash that cannot be turned back into the password.
  • What you enter about your household: the names of the people you plan for; which card products each person holds or has held, with open and close dates; whether a welcome bonus was received, its deadline and the spend toward it; points balances; free night certificates; and your travel goals and spend plans.
  • For administrators only: a record of edits to shared card and rule data, with the editor's account and the source they cited.

We never ask for, and the planner has no place to store:

  • card numbers, security codes or expiry dates;
  • Social Security numbers or credit scores;
  • passwords for banks, card issuers or loyalty programs.

Cookies in the planner

Signing in sets cookies that keep you signed in, protect the sign-in form, and remember the page you were going to. They are needed for the planner to work. We do not use cookies for analytics or advertising.

How we use it

Only to run the planner for your household: to show your cards, balances and deadlines, and to work out your plan. Each household's data is kept separate, and other households cannot see it.

Who stores it

  • Vercel runs the website and the planner.
  • Neon hosts the database. It runs on Amazon Web Services in the United States.

Neither may use your data for its own purposes. We share it with no one else.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account exists. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete it and your household's data from the live database. Our providers' own logs and backups expire on their own schedules.

Your choices

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, to correct it, to receive a copy, or to have it deleted. Email hello@slowtravelretirement.com and we will reply within 30 days.

Security

The site is served only over HTTPS. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes. Every page and request in the planner checks that you are signed in and only reads your own household's data. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell affected users promptly if we learn of a breach.

Children

Slow Travel Retirement is for adults planning credit card applications. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect, for example by adding a sign-up form or a mailing list, we will update this page first and change the date at the top. For material changes affecting account holders, we will also tell them by email.
